Every Bompus guide follows the same steps, so you know what a recommendation is based on.
1. We start from independent sources
For TVs, soundbars and cameras we start from independent lab results and respected review sites. For gift guides we start from lists published by established outlets. Each guide names its sources and the date we last checked, and we tell you which picks appear in which source.
2. We check every product on Amazon
Before a product is listed we open its Amazon US page and confirm that it is new (not renewed or used), that it can be added to a cart, who sells and ships it, and that the image and specifications match the model we describe. A product that fails any of these is replaced, not listed.
3. We write the reasons to buy and the reasons to skip
Each pick gets its strengths and its honest drawbacks, based on the source and the Amazon listing. When a claim comes from the manufacturer, such as a battery-life figure or a skin-care benefit, we say it is the maker’s claim.
4. We keep the pages current
Every guide shows when it was last checked. We recheck stock and sellers on a regular schedule, and we update or replace picks that stop being available or stop being a good choice. We show no prices because they would be out of date within hours.
5. We tell you how we earn money

What we will not do
- Invent test results, ratings or reviews.
- Hide the drawbacks of a pick.
- List a product we could not verify on Amazon.
